    It’s true; the respect of a profession may change from country to country. For example, soldiers aren’t given as much respect in Germany as they are in the US, partially because patriotism/nationalism/militarism is seen as a bad thing. In India, the only professions that get respect are lawyers, doctors, and government workers. In many European countries, however, teaching is seen as a very honorable and desirable profession.
